Where exactly architecture photographer William Benjamin Johnston took this photo (which we came across on the UO Digital Libraries) of Eugene’s Bon Marche department store, parking lot, and street parking, we’re not entirely sure. Sources mention that the Bon Marche was in a couple different locations along Eugene’s Broadway: 64 East Broadway, and 175 West Broadway, neither of which appear anything like the location in the photo nowadays, and both of which have a one-way street in the right location. But what we really care about are the cars in the photo, all pressed into shopping duty that day. What do you see here?
